Late Wet Season

Well it has been a wet cold spring here in south western Ontario.  It looks like the weather is changing and I can get back to updating the site with some more rides.  I was able to do the Port Dover run on Friday 13 and it turned out to be a good day!  It has been a busy time with work and family but I am going to get some more rides posted as they happen!

October 17

Another great fall day!  There was a pretty cool west wind so our ride was not too long.  The sun was out and the fall colours were great.  Gotta love fall riding!

October 10

Absolutely awesome weather this weekend. We took a nice ride north from Parkhill up toward Hensall thru Benmiller to Goderich and of course to Grand Bend fir ice cream. Great fall colors and just an all around great ride. This makes up for the last couple weekends of rain.

September 19

Well not much to say today.  I had some other things going on that I had to get done today so I only managed to get a short ride in.  We went to Grand Bend for ice cream and a back to Parkhill through Thedford.  It was a great afternoon with lots of sun and the trees are just starting to change colour.  Looking forward to some very nice rides in the coming weeks.  Fall is a great season for riding and I only hope the good weather can last for some time yet!  Hope everyone had a great and safe ride this weekend!

September 12

Cool damp morning today so we only went for a short ride.  We went for a run through Ailsa Craig, out to Polar Hill and then over through Delaware and back home through Mt Brydges and Strathroy.  Not a long ride or a sunny one but hey, I still riding!  Oh and of course it cleared up and the sun began to shine once I got home!

September 5

We started with good intentions today but some minor mechanical trouble forced us to change our route.  Today was one of the cooler days lately and really felt like a late fall day.  We left Parkhill and headed south west through Glencoe and Newbury and headed west to the the St Clair river.  The ride from Newbury to the river is always great as the road is smooth and seldom has traffic.  We went up the river and under the bridge at Point Edward for fries.  Once leaving Point Edward the trouble began.  The bike I was with (99 Sportster 1200) would not start and it appeared to be just a loose cable on the battery.  After tightening the bolts the bike started and we were on our way. Just after Camalachie the bike began to miss fire and the speedo flashing on and off.  We checked again and found the cables were tight and the bike would run fine if you pushed down on top of the battery box.  So we wedged a handle of a screwdriver between the frame and the top of the box and we were able to limp the bike home. Turns out the positive cable was broken off inside the connector where it connects to the solenoid.  Still a decent ride even though we did not finish with ice cream in Grand Bend!

August 29

Awesome weather today for riding!  We headed north from Parkhill through Zurich, Varna Holmesville and eventually over to Goderich.  Goderich has a great beach front road to cruise down and stop at the end for a rest beside the water.  We headed back down #21 highway to Grand Bend for ice cream and then south down #21 and through Thedford and back to Parkhill.  The day was so nice that I could have stayed out all day but family calls and I am happy to spend time with them too.
